Asking for and giving directions , a lesson plan


* Lesson : Asking and giving directions
*Type of activity : Listening & Speaking
*Objective : Recycle prepositions of  directions and place
*Mode of work : GROUP WORK
*Duration : 20 minutes

*Procedure

Lead-in 
1_Put students in  groups of four and give each group one handout
2_Students listen to the dialogue and identify the whereabouts of each place ( 5 mins )
3_ Make sure they have different handouts
4_ Take the handouts and swap them ,then give them back
Practice 
5_ Students listen again and correct each others' sheets
6_ Teacher asks students to listen and fill in the script ( gap-filling exercise ) with expressions to ask and give directions  they have learnt . ( 3 mins )
7- Give a scrambled  dialogue ( same theme ) and ask them to unscramble it ( 5 mins )
8- Whole class correction
8- Ask each group to role play the dialogue

Production : Ask each group to write a dialogue ,where they ask for directions to a place in their hometown *

* Note : You can stick cartoons ( panels ) as names of  places ( eg: Grocery )  between rows in your class ( 3D map ;) )as an extension for real-like conversation .
